Conservatives and Marcus Wood - Working for Torbay
Thank you for visiting my site. I hope to provide you with a little bit of background about who I am and what I stand for.
Torbay Conservatives are working with elected mayor Nick Bye to deliver residents a cleaner, safer and more prosperous Bay.
The Torbay area has suffered from years of decline since the Lib Dems took over the Town Hall in 1990 with visitor numbers and inward investment figures falling every year that they have been in control.
I am keen to see the local economy booming again and I led a series of think-tanks entitled ‘Torbay 2020’ to try and map out the bays future way back in 2002. Much of that work has been taken forward by the Torbay Development Agency. I passionately believe that tourism and leisure is the key to prosperity and more needs to be done to ensure that Torbay restores it’s position as a world-class destination for visitors.
Labour has failed to realise the importance of local private businesses to the economy of seaside towns like Torbay; and that much more could be done to encourage employment and prosperity by reducing red tape and increasing local democracy.
Torbay has a significant retirement community who I believe fail to get a fair deal from Government, especially as far as private pensions are concerned.
I hope you enjoy your visit to my personal website and please feel free to call or email with any questions you may have.
